SUMMARY:Global Clean Energy Action Forum: CCUS\, ESG\, and Just transition in Hard-to-Abate Sectors
DESCRIPTION:Side event at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum\, a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial and the 7th Mission Innovation ministerial. \nWorkshop: CCUS\, ESG\, and Just transition in Hard-to-Abate Sectors \nCombating the climate crisis requires accelerating the deployment of technologies for decarbonizing the hard-to-abate industries. The workshop explores why frontline communities’ involvement must be front and center for reaching net-zero within the required timeframe to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Through the lenses of environmental\, social\, and governance (ESG) principles and utilizing a process akin to a talanoa\, participants from the financial sector\, scientists\, engineers\, labor\, NGOs\, policymakers\, youth\, and frontline communities delve into three questions: (1) Where are we now in engaging frontline communities on the deployment carbon abatement technologies?; (2) Where do we need to be to ensure diversity\, equity\, justice and inclusivity?; and (3) How do we close the gap of where we are now and to where we need to be to ensure an energy transition to a net-zero economy and society where there are not stranded individuals or communities? \nCarbon Engineering’s VP & Head of Business Development\, Lori Guetre\, will be speaking in this workshop. \nRegistrations closed

SUMMARY:Global Clean Energy Action Forum: Quality CO2 removal: Building the largest market of all time right
DESCRIPTION:Side event at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum\, a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial and the 7th Mission Innovation ministerial. \nPanel: Quality CO2 removal: Building the largest market of all time right \nCO2 removal must scale to 10 Gt/y by mid-century to achieve key climate goals – twice the size of the oil & gas industry. This requires unprecedented commitments from governments\, industry\, and finance\, as well as technology ready to deploy. Unfortunately\, today the market is vexed with problems of quality that limit investment and deployment. New business models\, technologies\, and policies can overcome these challenges but require rapid action. \nThis event presents companies\, investors\, technologies\, science\, and partnerships – from US\, Canada\, and Europe – needed to drive deployment with incredible speed\, scale\, and confidence. Carbon Engineering’s VP Business Development\, Anna Stukas\, will be speaking on this panel that places these groups at the heart of discussions to identify and overcome key barriers to deployment of CO2 removal systems. \nRegistrations closed

SUMMARY:ASME Round Table Discussion on CCUS Technologies
DESCRIPTION:See Carbon Engineering’s VP of Business Development\, Anna Stukas\, speak at… \nASME’s Round Table Discussion on Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Technologies \nMarch 16\, 2022\n12:00 PM (Mountain time)\nOnline (Register here) \nEvent description: \n“Fossil fuels play a role in all major industrial sectors including the production of electricity\, cement\, fertilizer\, and steel as well as resource extraction. However\, the combustion of fossil fuels also generates emissions\, the intensity of which needs to be reduced to limit their impact on climate change. Due to their widespread use and lack of immediate viable replacement\, fossil fuels are expected to continue to play a significant role in the global energy infrastructure. These pressures give rise to a need for achieving deep emissions reductions\, while also allowing intermittent renewable energy sources to be balanced with stable low CO2 emission sources of baseload electricity. \nOne class of technological solutions that shows promise in achieving this goal is carbon capture\, utilization\, and storage (CCUS). CCUS encompasses technologies that capture and separate CO2 from the emission streams of industrial facilities or strips it from the atmosphere for value-added use in other industrial processes or to be impounded in stable underground geological formations. \nIf you would like to learn more about CCUS\, come join the Northern Alberta ASME Section for a roundtable discussion with experts in the field\, who will provide a brief overview of various CCUS technologies and answer questions about its implementation.” \n  \n
